Pump rebuild alone (without full rebuild):
Always replace converter with pump
- Worn pump = worn converter hub usually
- Reinstalling old converter wears new pump in 10k miles
- Cost-effective to do both at once
Pair with HD stator support
- Stator support shares wear surfaces with pump
- Read our pump and stator coverage in best 4L60E rebuild kit
What kills a 4L60E pump fast
- Old burnt fluid (varnish sticks parts)
- Tuned engine + stock pump
- Worn converter hub wallowing the bushing
- Skipping filter changes (debris through pump)
Common mistakes
- Skipping pump rebuild during trans rebuild
- Reusing old rotor (failure pattern repeats)
- Not replacing pump body bushings (causes future leak)
- Forgetting the O-ring (instant rear pump leak)
